Morena's female deputies defended Cuauhtémoc Blanco; they rejected his impeachment.
The ruling majority in the Chamber of Deputies maintained the protection of the former player, accused of attempted rape
The Chamber of Deputies, dominated by Morena and its allies, has decided to maintain the immunity of Deputy Cuauhtémoc Blanco.
This decision is so that he can't be investigated by the authorities in the face of a serious accusation of attempted rape by his half-sister, Nidia Fabiola Blanco Fernández.
Thus, the decision prevents the Morelos Prosecutor's Office from legally proceeding to investigate the former governor, generating outrage and highlighting the double standards of the ruling party on issues of justice and protection for women.

An Undignified Session
In an extraordinary session, held in San Lázaro, the ruling party broke apart just like the opposition bloc. The vote to decide whether to maintain the constitutional protection of the Morena legislator had the political class on edge.
Deputies from Morena, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), and the Green Party (PVEM), won the vote to maintain Deputy Blanco's immunity, thus avoiding his prosecution.
With a comfortable vote of 291 in favor, 158 against, and 12 abstentions, it was decided that Blanco would not have his constitutional immunity removed.

Even the president of Congress, Morena's Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, allowed Blanco to take the podium to defend himself, in an unprecedented act condemned by some sectors of the opposition.
The coordinator of the Citizen Movement, Ivonne Ortega, was about to snatch the microphone from the alleged aggressor, who at all times was protected by a circle of Morena legislators.

Systematic and Permanent Support
The ruling party showed on more than one occasion its commitment to protecting its fellow party member.
The newly appointed secretary of women of the ruling party, Citlalli Hernández, who was given an organization within her party to protect women, remained in permanent silence.

The instructive section of the Chamber of Deputies, with a Morena majority and in charge of analyzing his case, had already dismissed the process of the former footballer on several occasions. The only opposing position was from the PAN member Germán Martínez.
Furthermore, it is not the first time that the president's party defends alleged aggressors of women. Such is the case of Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio, with multiple allegations of sexual assault.
Morena not only intended to make him governor of Guerrero but also rewarded him with a plurinominal senatorial position, which he enjoys today.

Empty Words
The words that President Claudia Sheinbaum pronounced at her inauguration still resonate in the memory of millions of Mexicans.
In her speech, the first female president in Mexico's history claimed to be a government committed to the cause of women. With the now immortalized phrase "we all arrived" Sheinbaum paved the way for her new assignment.

Today those words sound empty. The ruling party, with the support of its ally the PVEM and with the complicity of the PRI, have shielded an alleged aggressor of women, highlighting their double standards and lack of commitment to justice.
