Rommel Pacheco confirmed investigations against Ana Guevara for embezzlement in CONADE
The ASF has pointed out irregularities amounting to more than 437 million pesos, which could lead to administrative or criminal responsibilities.
The director of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), Rommel Pacheco, confirmed that there are several investigation files related to the administration of his predecessor, Ana Gabriela Guevara.
These audits, conducted by the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF), cover from 2018 to 2023 and aim to clarify the destination of approximately 437.8 million pesos.

Embezzlement and corruption
"There are ongoing investigations. We are in the process of clarifying observations made by the ASF," Pacheco noted in a recent interview.
However, he clarified that Conade doesn't have the authority to conduct criminal investigations, so any irregularity detected will be referred to the competent authorities.

The investigations have gained relevance following multiple allegations of embezzlement and corruption within the sports organization.
Although Guevara's administration denied any mismanagement at the time, ASF reports have revealed inconsistencies that have not yet been properly clarified.
Opacity and lack of support in Guevara's administration
For years, Ana Guevara's administration has been criticized for lack of transparency and financial mismanagement. In 2022, it was reported that Conade had engaged in misappropriation of funds, lack of expense verification, and discretionary support to allied sports federations.
The opacity in Conade's financial management created a climate of distrust among athletes and coaches, who repeatedly denounced the lack of support and the diversion of resources intended for high performance.

During her administration, Guevara was accused of minimizing and dismissing these complaints, even going so far as to publicly disqualify athletes who spoke out against her administration.
Despite these findings, Guevara has not yet faced legal consequences. However, with the ongoing audits, administrative or even criminal charges could be brought against her.

Pacheco promises transparency
Unlike his predecessor, Rommel Pacheco has assured that his administration will be governed by transparency and the proper use of resources. "We are committed to accountability and ensuring that every peso allocated to sports is used correctly," he stated.
The new head of Conade also called on the relevant authorities to follow up on the audits and determine responsibilities. "If there are significant findings, the relevant bodies will be informed," he reiterated.
