Bartlett Left the Country: He's Involved in the Death of a Dea Agent
Internal sources from Palacio Nacional suggest that Bartlett fled. Possibly to avoid being captured by the US.
Manuel Bartlett is one of the longest-standing figures in Mexican politics, as well as one of the country's most controversial figures. Bartlettis accused of causing the "system failure" in the "88 Theft" and even of the murder of a DEA agent.
Internal sources from the National Palace suggest that Manuel Bartlett has left the country. Possibly in the face of the imminent capture as part of the investigationsinto the murder of DEA agent "Kiki" Camarena.

On February 27, at the request of the USA, 29 Mexican drug traffickers were extradited to U.S. territory. Among those extradited was Rafael Caro Quintero, who is directly implicated in the torture and murder of agent Camarena.
According to U.S. authorities, Rafael Caro Quintero could face the death penalty if he doesn't help clarify the Camarena case.
What is the link between Caro Quintero, Kiki Camarena, and Manuel Bartlett?
On July 7, 2022, Rafael Caro Quintero, known as "The Narco of narcos," was captured in Sinaloa. He is accused of being the mastermind behind the kidnapping, torture, and murder of "Kiki" Camarena, a DEA agent operating in Mexico in the 1980s.
The capture of the kingpin occurred after the U.S. government offered a $20 million reward and requested his extradition three times.

The tragedy began in 1984, when Camarena discovered a huge 1,000-hectare marijuana field. The destruction represented a multimillion-dollar blow to the Guadalajara Cartel, led by Caro Quintero.
A year later, on February 7, 1985, the DEA agent was kidnapped as he left the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara. His lifeless body was found a month later with signs of torture.
The accusation against Manuel Bartlett
Caro Quintero's extradition has reignited questions about the involvement of other figures in Camarena's murder.
Loret de Mola recalled that, according to former DEA agents, the order to capture and interrogate the agent may have come from the CIA. They confirm that they had the support of Manuel Bartlett, who at that time was Secretary of the Interior.
"Not only did the narcos beat and interrogate him, but the American CIA also interrogated him, and Bartlett Díaz was even present"
stated Héctor Berrellez, a former DEA agent.

Additionally, declassified documents from the U.S. government indicate that Bartlett protected the kingpins involved in Camarena's murder.
Despite these suspicions, no investigations were ever conducted against Bartlett in Mexico.
