PAN warns: 'Los Chapitos' confessions could sink Morena

Federal deputies warn about links between organized crime and high-ranking officials of the ruling party

The federal deputies of PAN held their Plenary Meeting in Durango. There, their parliamentary coordinator, Elías Lixa Abimerhi, issued a strong warning: "After 'Los Chapitos' start singing, the Mexican government will have to dance."

With that phrase, the legislator suggested that the sons of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, currently imprisoned in the United States, could reveal compromising information about Morena politicians and their ties to organized crime.

What about the visa?

Lixa criticized the supposed concern of the government about possible agreements between the Guzmán family and U.S. authorities. Meanwhile, he denounced that serious issues like the revocation of the visa of the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila, and her husband are being ignored.

The PAN deputy was clear: "The intolerable relationship that exists between rulers and organized crime in Mexico can't be glossed over."

He also urged President Claudia Sheinbaum to intensify cooperation with the United States to exchange key information. "If the Mexican government is truly interested in dismantling organized crime, it should be requesting the information that the United States has," he stated.

Anaya calls to break the pact of impunity

These statements add to the recent criticisms of Ricardo Anaya. The former presidential candidate has insisted on the need to break the "pact of impunity" and demand transparency in the relationships between the State and criminal organizations.

The warning from the PAN parliamentary leader points to a reality known by Mexican society: the relationship between political power and drug trafficking. Meanwhile, concern grows in the National Palace about the implications that the confessions of "Los Chapitos" may have.

If the links between officials and cartels are confirmed, the impact could shake the government of Claudia Sheinbaum and confirm what many have denounced for years.
