Branches of Pollo Loco were attacked in Nuevo León, causing alarm in the community.

In recent weeks, five branches of the Pollo Loco restaurant chain in Nuevo León were subjected to arson attacks. This has caused concern among the population and local authorities.

These incidents, occurring in various municipalities of the state, have caused significant material damage and have raised alarms about security in the region.

Details of the attacks

The first attack was recorded in the early hours of March 16 at two branches located in the municipality of Apodaca, where unknown individuals started fires that caused considerable damage to the establishments.

The authorities confirmed that these were  premeditated acts and initiated the corresponding investigations.

Subsequently, on March 23, at a branch located in the municipality of Guadalupe, an explosive device was thrown, which fortunately did not detonate. This incident increased concern among the owners and employees of the chain.

In the early hours of March 24, two new attacks were recorded. The first occurred at the branch in the Solidaridad sector, northwest of Monterrey,

where hooded individuals threw explosive devices that caused a fire in the establishment. A security guard who was present managed to take cover and requested help from emergency services.

Hours later, in the municipality of Santa Catarina, another branch was targeted in an attempted arson. Unknown individuals threw an explosive device inside the premises, but thanks to the timely intervention of employees and elements of the Municipal Civil Protection, the damage was minor.

Authorities' reaction

In response to the series of attacks, the Nuevo León Attorney General's Office has intensified investigations to find those responsible. The Attorney General, Javier Flores Saldívar, announced that he would meet with the family that owns Pollo Loco to address the situation and coordinate actions.

So far, the authorities have ruled out that these attacks are related to extortion attempts, although investigations are ongoing.
