They murdered 'El Chango's son in Querétaro
Diego Méndez Velázquez, alias 'El Changuito,' son of José de Jesús Méndez Vargas, founder of La Familia Michoacana.
Hitmen gunned down "El Changuito" in a Querétaro parking lot
The homicide occurred in the early morning of March 8, in the parking lot of Fisher's Club bar, located in one of the most exclusive areas of Querétaro.
The victims were inside a green Lamborghini Urus with Chiapas plates when they were attacked by an armed group that opened fire without a word.

Authorities confirmed that the main target was Diego Méndez Velázquez, alias "El Changuito," who received multiple gunshot wounds along with the two women joining him.
Who was "El Changuito" and why was he killed?
Diego Méndez Velázquez was the son of José de Jesús Méndez Vargas, alias "El Chango" Méndez, founder of La Familia Michoacana, one of the most violent cartels in Mexico.
In 2018, he was arrested in Querétaro for health-related crimes and possession of firearms, but was later released.

His murder occurred days after his father's extradition to the United States, which has sparked speculation about possible revenge or a settling of scores among organized crime groups.
Organized crime continues to extend its influence in Querétaro
The government of Querétaro confirmed that the attack was a direct homicide and that the victims had no ties to the state, suggesting that the case is linked to national drug trafficking conflicts.
Authorities have identified the alleged perpetrators, but so far there are no arrests and no information about their capture has been revealed.
Governor Mauricio Kuri González promised to strengthen security, assuring that Querétaro will not allow organized crime to infiltrate the state.
Drug trafficking violence continues to rise in Mexico
The murder of "El Changuito" reflects the brutality of cartel disputes in Mexico, where score-settling continues to claim the lives of key figures in organized crime.
La Familia Michoacana remains active in several states, disputing territories with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and other criminal groups.
Meanwhile, the government continues with a failed security strategy, unable to curb the violence and power of drug trafficking in the country.
