Dies in prison Miguel 'N,' chemist accused of murdering several women in Iztacalco

He fell in his cell hours before a key hearing; he avoided facing justice for more than a decade of crimes

Miguel Cortés Miranda, a chemist graduated from IPN, was pointed out as an alleged serial killer of women in the Iztacalco borough. He died this Saturday inside the Reclusorio Oriente.

The official cause:a respiratory arrest after an alleged fall in his cell. His death occurred hours before appearing for the murder of a 17-year-old girl.

Cortés was arrested in April 2024, accused of the murder of María José Castillo and attempted murder against her mother. During the search of his home.human remains, personal belongings of victims, and evidence linking him to at least seven more cases were found

More than a decade of impunity | DR

Crimes that went unnoticed for more than a decade, causing the loss of innocent lives along with the collateral destruction caused by this monster. Leaving a city traumatized by the horrendous crimes committed.

He died without facing justice

The accused was scheduled to appear for two of the cases against him. But that morning,he was found unconscious in his cell.

He was taken to the General Hospital of Iztapalapa, where he was declared dead.
He never received a sentence, never confessed, never explained.

Prison authorities claimed it was an “accidental fall.”
But the lack of surveillance, medical attention, and internal control raises suspicions once again.Once more, the prison system avoided what it should have guaranteed: justice.

An error of the system or a convenient exit?

The death of Miguel “N” abruptly closed several processes. For the victims and their families,it represents the definitive cancellation of the truth. There will be no trial, no statement,no answer.

The CDMX government remains silent.
There is no official stance, no firm statement, no deep explanation. And the crimes against women remain unsolved… or uninvestigated.

The case leaves a clear and bitter lesson

For years,a man killed, hid bodies, and no one stopped him.Only when he failed with a victim who managed to ask for help, was he captured. And now, he dies without answering for everything he did.

The State not only failed to stop him in time.
It also failed to ensure he answered for his actions.Justice in Mexico remains a privilege…
and impunity, a repeated pattern.
