Valeria Márquez claimed to have changed her life: 'I left the bandits behind.'
Valeria's family, friends, and fans demand justice and that the case not remain unpunished
The case of Valeria Marquéz, a 23-year-old influencer, has caused strong public outrage. The young entrepreneur in the beauty world claimed to be changing her life, distancing herself from dangerous environments and harmful habits.
"I've already changed, I don't go out anymore, I don't drink anymore, I've left the bad guys behind, just a good girl now", she said shortly before being murdered during a live broadcast.
The crime occurred inside her business, Blossom The Beauty Lounge, in Zapopan, Jalisco. A hitman entered the premises and shot her at point-blank range in front of her digital community. The scene was recorded on video as a brutal testimony of the violence plaguing the country.
Stalled investigation and contradictory versions
Multiple theories circulated on social media. Some point to an ex-boyfriend or a possible betrayal by someone close. However, the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office has not identified concrete suspects and opened the investigation under the crime classified as "femicide," in accordance with gender perspective protocols.
A few days ago, a CJNG leader, known as "el doble RR," was arrested, allegedly related to the incident. He is suspected of being sent to settle a score, although there is no official confirmation of his link to the victim.
Vivian De la Torre, a close friend of Valeria, has also been pointed out on social media, who has already defended herself publicly.
Vivian stated that her relationship with Valeria was like sisters, that she used to support her financially and that she never imagined such a tragic outcome. She asked the public to stop the accusations and remember that "behind the spectacle, there is a human loss".
Impunity and citizen indignation
Valeria's case reflects a national problem: in Mexico, justice arrives late or never. Homicides repeat like an epidemic, without authorities managing to stop the violence.
Family, friends, and followers of Valeria demand justice. They fear that her story will be filed away as just another statistic, despite the available evidence.
Valeria publicly expressed her desire to change her life, but organized crime, the lack of justice, and the silent complicity of the environment did not allow her.
