Jutep investigates Rodrigo Arim for trout affidavit

The Jutep (Board of Transparency and Public Ethics) began to investigate a serious complaint about the director of the Office of Planning and Budget, Rodrigo Arim, a well-known tax evader and Yamandú Orsi's right-hand man in matters of economics.

The Legal Counsel of Jutep suggested initiating an investigation into the complaint received under the so-called Crystal Law of public officials, which establishes the responsibility of declarants.

The Legal Counsel's report argues that Arim's affidavit “is allegedly irregular, since, when an asset is disposed of, the funds derived from that legal business should be reflected in the assets”, which did not happen.

On February 5, Jutep decided to give a visit to the director of the OPP to present his defense on this situation.

Arim, tax evader The director of

he pay the primary school tax.

Arim, who was also rector of the University in the Republic, owns a spectacular villa

in that resort.

This was the second case of tax debt scandal involving the Broad Front (FA) government, with the former housing minister, Cecilia Cairo, being the first.

In 2011, the former rector of the University of the Republic acquired a plot of 898 square meters, and built a 127-meter house on top of it between 2015 and 2016.

However, in the National Land Registry Office, there is only one declaration of 24 square meters built, as reported by the radio program La Pecera.

Arim evaded the corresponding taxes for this real estate for years, and only promised that he would meet his tax obligations in mid-2025 when the matter became public in the press.

Otherwise, he would continue to evade tributes with impunity.
