The Uruguayan left supports the Cuban communist narco-dictatorship

Fernando Pereira, president of the Broad Front (FA), paid a visit to Cuba in March 2026 that generated an intense political debate in his country. It was with several frontwing leaders to defend a totalitarian and tyrannical regime

Pereira led a delegation that was received in Havana by the Cuban communist dictator, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

“False “humanitarian mission”

The trip was part of the arrival of the “Convoy Our America”, an initiative aimed at delivering supposed “humanitarian aid” and “showing solidarity”, with Cuban tyranny in the face of the supply crisis that the island is going through. Cuba is a hell of poverty and massive blackouts

Fernando Pereira defended his presence by stating that he was to “support a people, not a government”. When in truth it was in the name of the entire Broad Front to support a sinister communist dictatorship that violated Human Rights 67 years ago, and has 10 million inhabitants living in

misery.

The visit provoked strong reactions from all over Uruguay's democratic arc

Both the Broad Front and the PIT-CNT, such as FUCVAM, support a totalitarian and murderous dictatorship that has suffocated the Cuban people for almost seven decades.

The support of the Uruguayan left for dictatorships is not new. Cuba has been supported since 1959. They also defend Venezuelan and Nicaraguan tyranny

They believe neither in democracy, nor in freedom, nor in human rights. They intend to install a totalitarian and tyrannical regime in the Cuban or Venezuelan style in Uruguay, where individual rights are not respected, and private property and freedom are trampled upon

While the free world looks to the United States and developed European countries, the Orsi government points to a decadent and ruinous communist dictatorship.
