In recent hours, it has emerged that Frente Amplio member Marcos Otheguy, who is president of the State Insurance Bank and has presented himself for many years as a graduate in history from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of the Republic, doesn't have the aforementioned university degree.
Otheguy was a Frente Amplio senator from the group of former vice president Raúl Sendic, who also blatantly lied about his degree, when he claimed to be a graduate in human genetics from the University of Havana, and this was completely false.
In light of this falsehood and after corruption scandals, Sendic resigned from the vice presidency of the Republic during Tabaré Vázquez's second administration.
The fake graduate
In recent days, it has become known, mainly through investigations by social media users, that Marcos Otheguy doesn't have the aforementioned degree in history, since he doesn't appear in the university election register, nor does he appear in the University Professionals' Fund.

Although the news became public and went viral on social media, BSE has not issued any statement, which suggests that he indeed lied for many years and presents himself as a graduate when he is not.
Liar like Olesker
The cases of Otheguy and Sendic are not the only ones. Daniel Olesker also presented himself with a university degree he did not have.
He claimed to be an economist and he was not. He lied blatantly for many years.
