In recent hours, it has become known that several members of the state university have condemned Rodrigo Arim.
This concerns the individual who was the rector, the highest position at UdelaR, and who currently serves on the economic team of the Frente Amplio government as director of OPP (Office of Planning and Budget).
The story of a tax evader
In 2011, Arim purchased a vacant lot in the best area of the resort Solís, in Maldonado.
In 2015, he began the construction of a luxurious house, with some permits from the Maldonado Municipality and the Social Security Bank (BPS).
The construction of the impressive chalet was completed around 2016, but the final building plan was not submitted to the National Cadastre Directorate, which is a legal requirement for regularization.

In his sworn asset declaration (as a public official), Arim blatantly lied.
He registered the land with only 24 m² (258.3 square feet) built, when the actual house measures approximately 126 m² (1,356.3 square feet), according to independent measurements reported in the media.
He did not pay the Primary Education Tax: This tax (intended for primary education) applies to built properties.
By not having the final building plan, Arim did not pay it for at least 10 years (from 2016 to 2025), which would have avoided an amount estimated in the thousands of Uruguayan pesos.
This deprives early childhood education of funds, which is especially ironic given his role in public policies of "equity."
The Frente Amplio member also did not pay the Property Tax.
