The 2026 holiday calendar is already defined and brings a key novelty for those who are thinking about getaways and breaks. With the addition of new non-working days, next year will have almost a long weekend per month.
The measure was made official by the national government in order to boost domestic tourism and energize key sectors of the economy. The information comes from Resolution 164/2025 published in the Official Gazette.

More breaks to promote domestic tourism
The decree establishes three new non-working days for tourism purposes. The goal is to extend weekends and facilitate the planning of trips within the country.
According to the official text, the decision aims to strengthen activities such as hospitality, gastronomy and transportation. It also seeks to organize the family and commercial schedule throughout the year.
How many long weekends 2026 will have
Except for January and September, every month will have at least one extended break. In total, the calendar adds up to 12 long weekends.

May and December will be the most favored months, with two XL weekends each. This positions 2026 as one of the years with the most opportunities for mini vacations.
