The 2026 school year begins in February in much of the country. In order to guarantee a minimum of 190 days of classes, several provinces moved the start date forward.
According to the official schedule released by the education authorities, the calendar is already set. It includes the start date, winter break, and the end of the school year in each district.

These are the confirmed dates for the start of the 2026 school year:
Buenos Aires: March 2.
CABA: February 25 (preschool and primary); March 2 (secondary).
Catamarca: March 2.
Chaco: March 2.
Chubut: February 23.
Córdoba: March 2.
Corrientes: March 2.
Entre Ríos: March 2.
Formosa: March 2.
Jujuy: February 23.
La Pampa: March 2.
La Rioja: March 2.
Mendoza: February 25.
Misiones: March 2.
Neuquén: February 25.
Río Negro: March 2.
Salta: March 2.
San Juan: March 2.
San Luis: February 23.
Santa Cruz: February 25.
Santa Fe: March 2.
Santiago del Estero: February 18.
Tierra del Fuego: March 2.
Tucumán: March 2.
Winter break 2026: confirmed dates
The winter recess also already has a schedule. These are the 2026 winter break dates by province:
From July 6 to 17: Córdoba, San Juan, San Luis, and Santa Fe.
From July 13 to 24: Catamarca, Chubut, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Formosa, Jujuy, La Pampa, La Rioja, and Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, and Tucumán.
From July 20 to 31: Buenos Aires, CABA, Chaco, and Santiago del Estero.
Serán 190 días de clases.
When classes end in 2026
In most provinces, the school year ends on December 18. In Buenos Aires and Mendoza, meanwhile, it runs until December 22.
The goal is to meet the 190 days of in-person classes set by the Federal Education Council.
