The communist leader of Podemos, Irene Montero, was once again involved in controversy after the viralization of a video on social networks where she endorses a woke dictatorship in Spain, an expression that has been marked in public debate within the European country.
The origin of the controversy lies in a rally held in Zaragoza, where Montero defended the regularization of illegal immigrants and stated that he would like to “sweep this country away from fachas and racists with migrant people”. The phrase, of high political tension, is a clear sign that the Spanish left is not content with letting in hundreds of thousands of illegal African immigrants who harm the lives of Spaniards and are looking for a more radical ideological project
.
From that moment on, the idea of a woke dictatorship, said by Montero herself, began to circulate to describe an agenda that seeks to impose certain cultural and political values of the left from power. This is in addition to the ideas of “sweeping away” those who think differently in a sign of political intolerance, incompatible with the principles of democratic pluralism. In this framework, the notion of a woke dictatorship appears as an idea to achieve what they perceive as an attempt at cultural hegemony from the left
