Franco Colapinto closed a more than positive weekend at the Miami Grand Prix.
With a clear evolution in the performance of his A526, the Argentinian driver finished in eighth position, scoring important points and matching his best record to date in Formula 1.“The truth is that he was very happy, happy with the result, with obviously the improvement, the performance we had this weekend, which was really very positive,” he said after the race, highlighting the leap in quality demonstrated by his team.
On theother hand, he highlighted the work on his car during the April break: “Thank you to the team for their effort, for so much effort to have brought the improvements”. Along these lines, the Argentine stressed that the technical updates were decisive for taking a step forward in competitiveness: "These are very big improvements that helped me to be more competitive and happy to have found my way and to have scored
points.”However, the race was not without difficulties. Colapinto suffered problems at the start that forced him to row a bit from behind, but he was able to recover quickly and even win two places. “The start was very difficult, something happened in the turbo, I had no pressure, I had no power, I think I lost five places. But I was able to recover in the first one, doing some good first corners, so I'm happy with that,” he said
.In the balance sheet, the pilot was satisfied with his performance and is already projecting what is coming: “Happy with my performance, we have to keep working to improve for Canada a little more, but we are on the right track”.
Beyond the track result, Colapinto also experienced very special days on a personal level. The week before the Grand Prix was marked first by his historic Road Show in Buenos Aires and then by his encounter with Lionel Messi , whom he saw again in Miami before the race. “In these last seven days, a lot of dreams have come true for me,” he said excitedly
.The bond with the captain of the Argentine National Team left an indelible mark: “Very happy, enjoying the moment, and an enormous happiness to see Leo here again today before the start”. “You have to bring it every race,” the Pilarense joked
.“A dream come true to meet my idol, to talk to him, to have come to support me with the whole family. It was a very special day and moment, so happy to have had a good result and happy with everyone's efforts and to give something nice back to the Argentines,” he concluded
