The Government of Javier Milei appointed Sebastián Amerio as the new Attorney of the National Treasury, a strategic function within the country's institutional framework.
Through an official statement, the agency announced that the measure aims to strengthen its political and legal structure at a central moment for the legal defense of the policies promoted by the current libertarian administration.
The statement said: “The President of the Nation, Dr. Javier G. Milei, has decided to appoint Dr. Sebastián Amerio as Attorney of the National Treasury, the Head of the National State Bar Corps and the highest authority responsible for the legal defense of the State, with the objective of strengthening the political and legal volume of the organization at a key stage for the legal defense of this administration.”

The presidential decision was also presented as a recognition of the work that Amerio had been doing within the Government. Until the time of his appointment, the official was in charge of the Ministry of Justice, from where he promoted a series of reforms aimed at modifying the functioning of the
judicial system.The official statement highlighted that during his administration, progress was made in different institutional transformations. These included the expansion of the accusatory system to a large part of the national territory and other measures linked to administrative and legislative modernization
.In this regard, the official text stated: “Among the most significant advances in his administration are the implementation of the accusatory system in 65% of the national territory in just two years, the modernization of the automotive registration system and the effective promotion of key legislative reforms, such as the laws of Trial in Absence, Reiteration and Recidivism, as well as the recent Juvenile Criminal Regime, which lowered the age of accountability to 14 years.”
