The unpresentable Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia and his minions in the Argentine Football Association (AFA) are on the ropes. This Tuesday, the Justice confirmed that it will continue with the investigative statements convened in the criminal case investigating the leadership of the parent company of Argentine football for alleged misappropriation of contributions and tax withholding of more than
19,353 million pesos. The Economic Criminal Judge, Diego Amarante, rejected the defense's request to suspend the scheduled hearings, so Tapia must appear to testify next Thursday, March 5, in the courts of Avenida de los Immigrantes.

The strategy proposed by the lawyers sought to postpone the hearings until the National Economic Criminal Chamber decides on an appeal in which they maintain the absence of a crime and request the closure of the file. However, Amarante considered that approach inadmissible and kept the schedule of investigations firm
.The cause originated from a complaint filed by the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA), which accuses the AFA of not filing within the legal deadline the resources corresponding to tax withholding and social security contributions between March 2024 and September 2025.
In addition to Tapia, other leaders such as Pablo Toviggino and members of the Executive Committee were also called to testify. In the case of the treasurer, his defense used a similar strategy to try to suspend his own investigation
