The sentence was handed down by judges Marcelo Giorgis, Juan Carlos Estrada and Guillermo Mercenaro, who make up the court that intervened in the juvenile criminal trial based in Tolosa.

During the trial, it was established that the defendant was responsible for the death of the girl, who was dragged for more than 15 blocks under the vehicle that had previously been stolen from her mother in front of a supermarket.

At the final hearing, prosecutor Mercedes Catani had requested the same sentence that the court finally handed down: 23 years and 4 months in prison. The accusation was based on the figure of homicide on the occasion of robbery, in the capacity of
a material perpetrator.
The sanction applied is among the highest provided for this type of crime, whose criminal scale includes sentences ranging from 10 to 25 years of effective imprisonment.
For its part, the defendant's defense maintained during the trial that it was a wrongful death and asked for a considerably lower sentence of seven years in prison.
The file was processed under the rules of the juvenile criminal system because Godoy was 17 years old when the incident occurred, although he is currently of legal age. In that context, the judges decided that he should be tried
as a minor.
Another adolescent also participated in the case, who was identified as a co-perpetrator of the robbery and the homicide. However, the minor, who was 14 years old at the time of the act, remains out of the reach of the criminal system due to his age.

The violent robbery and murder
