Yanina Latorre blasted El Nueve and predicted its future on América

The sale of Mandarina Contenidos to Grupo Octubre continues to generate uncertainty in Argentine television, especially among the hosts of the main programs on América TV. Amid negotiations to define the lineup for 2027, Yanina Latorre broke her silence and made several statements about her professional future.

During her show Yanina 107.9, on El Observador, the host of Sálvese quien pueda (SQP) harshly criticized El Nueve, stated that she is not interested in rebuilding the audience of another channel, and explained that her decision will be independent of what Ángel de Brito decides.

The sale of Mandarina that shook América TV

On October 28, Grupo Octubre, led by Víctor Santa María, announced the purchase of 100% of Mandarina Contenidos, the production company founded by Mariano Chihade in 2005.

The operation also included the acquisition of the streaming channel Bondi and the appointment of Chihade as the overall executive director of El Nueve.

The peculiarity of the move is that Mandarina produces several of the most important programs on América TV: LAM, El diario de Mariana (DDM), Sálvese quien pueda, and BTV.

Although current agreements guarantee the continuity of the shows until the end of the year, it is still not defined what will happen during 2027.

Yanina Latorre distanced herself from Ángel de Brito

In response to rumors suggesting a possible joint move of the hosts of LAM and SQP, Latorre was emphatic. “My decision does not depend on Ángel. My decision depends on me”, she asserted.

The journalist also revealed that her professional future is much clearer than it was days ago, although she preferred to keep her next step under wraps. “I am much more defined than last week. I haven’t discussed it with anyone, only with my husband”, she acknowledged.

Her statements came as De Brito continues to evaluate the alternatives that arose after the sale of the production company.

Yanina Latorre's harsh criticism of El Nueve

One of the strongest moments of her statement came when she spoke about the channel that could host Mandarina's programs. “El Nueve has no identity”, she stated bluntly.

Latorre explained that during the discussions she received a proposal that sought to leverage the weight of her figure and that of Ángel de Brito to improve the channel's audience. “My response when they offered me El Nueve was, ‘imagine if you and Ángel go to El Nueve and lift it up’”, she recalled.

However, she made it clear that this possibility does not excite her. “I don’t want to spend my time lifting channels; let someone else do it. I’m established here”, she concluded.

The praise for América and the success of SQP

Far from questioning her current workplace, Latorre highlighted the evolution that América TV has experienced in recent years.

“This is the best year for América since I’ve been at América”, she stated.

The host recalled that when she arrived with De Brito, the channel's audience situation was different and that both programs contributed to consolidating its programming.

SQP debuted in February 2025 and managed to establish itself within the afternoon competition, while LAM continues to be one of the most important shows on the network.

What will happen with Yanina Latorre in 2027

Although her statements suggest a preference to remain at América, the journalist has not yet officially announced where she will continue her career.

The decision will also depend on negotiations between the channels, the production company, and the involved hosts.

For now, Mandarina's programs will continue to air under the current agreements.

The main question is whether América will manage to retain its most important figures or if Grupo Octubre will succeed in moving them to El Nueve during 2027.
