The violation of digital infrastructures for civil protection has become one of the most critical fronts in contemporary conflicts. In a context marked by information confrontation, official citizen alert systems have begun to be targets of mass cyberattacks aimed at sowing collective panic and interfering with the security of the population.
In the most serious incident, a group of hackers breached the official emergency mobile application of Russia and spread false warnings about alleged attacks with nuclear warheads on Russian territory. The mass cyberattack directly affected the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, causing false information to be sent to citizens through the official mobile system, as reported by this Sunday by the Russian news agency TASS.

In the statement collected by the agency, the government body stated: “the mobile application of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia was the target of a mass cyberattack, as a result the attackers managed to send false information to the population”. After detecting the vulnerability, the ministry itself indicated that the necessary technical work to correct the flaw in the mobile application and restore its normal operation was initiated immediately.
