Apple loses its leadership in smartwatches for the first time in years
Huawei leads the global smartwatch market with a 52% share, while Apple and Samsung are losing ground
For the first time in years, Apple is no longer the leading brand in smartwatches. Huawei took first place thanks to record growth in the last quarter.
The smartwatch market is experiencing a resurgence. Sales, which had been declining, rebounded and surprised with changes among the leaders in global distribution.

Huawei dominates strongly
According to analysts, Huawei recorded a 52% year-over-year increase, leading among the world's top 10 brands. Much of its success is due to high demand in China and competitive prices.
Huawei's strategy combines proprietary projects, integrated systems, and expansion in markets such as Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. This allowed it to surpass Apple in smartwatch shipments during the second quarter of 2025.
Other brands on the rise
Xiaomi also showed significant growth, especially in the basic segment with affordable watches. Samsung and Apple, meanwhile, experienced declines in their shipments as consumers await their new models.

The global smartwatch market is projected to grow by 7% in 2025. The drivers are artificial intelligence, more accurate health sensors, and broader app ecosystems.
The future of smartwatches
Competition is intensifying and consumers have more options than ever. Huawei is taking advantage of its momentary leadership, but Apple and Samsung are still working on innovations that could change the landscape.

The integration of AI and health technologies promises to keep the smartwatch segment growing.
