On the plane transporting Pope Leo XIV on his first apostolic tour of South America, passengers received a courtesy kit specially prepared for the journey. Journalist Elisabetta Piqué, correspondent for La Nación in Italy, shared a video showcasing each item included in the toiletry bag provided on board.
The toiletry bag is made of beige fabric and features the ITA Airways logo, the Italian airline responsible for the transport. Among the items it contains are socks, earplugs, and a range of personal hygiene products. There is toothpaste, a toothbrush, and hand cream, designed to make the long journey more comfortable.
One of the most unique items in the set is a copy of L’Osservatore Romano, the official newspaper of the Holy See. This detail makes the kit more than just a simple airplane toiletry bag: it includes material directly related to the institution headed by the pontiff.
Piqué's video allows viewers to see each piece up close and offers a glimpse into the experience aboard the papal flight. The crew assigned to these types of operations is specially trained to accompany the papal delegation and the journalists traveling with the Pope.
The flight route and the tour of the region
Leo XIV departed this Friday, November 6, from Rome-Fiumicino Airport bound for Montevideo, Uruguay. The aircraft is an Airbus A330neo from ITA Airways. From the Uruguayan capital, a tour will begin that will also include visits to Argentina and Peru.
In addition to the official delegation, Italian and international journalists are traveling on the flight, closely following the first stage of this journey through South America. The courtesy kit was provided to all passengers as part of the onboard service.
