The company Atanor Albaugh announced that it will integrate the complete process of synthesis, formulation, packaging, and sale of the finished 2-4D herbicide product at its Río Tercero plant.
The company made the announcement during an institutional event, with the participation of provincial and municipal authorities.

Córdoba's Minister of Justice and Labor, Julián López; Secretary of Industry, Ignacio Tovo; Secretary of Sustainable Development, Juan Scotto; and General Director of Labor Conciliation, Jorge Brizuela, participated. Chief of Staff of the Municipality of Río Tercero, Lautaro Villafañe, also attended.
"We are very pleased that a plant which is a flagship of our country's chemical industry is located in this province of Córdoba," López stated at the end of the plant tour. He urged to "continue working with this methodology of public-private collaboration."
Additionally, the minister valued "the quality control they have in the production of the products and the emphasis on the safety of those who work in this plant."
The 2-4D process
Meanwhile, the manager of the unit in Río Tercero, Gastón Lucchini, indicated that Atanor Albaugh "is working to incorporate production processes that will make this Río Tercero plant one of the most integrated worldwide: from the beginning of the 2-4D process to packaging for delivery to the producer."
"That makes us very competitive and will allow us to move forward with exports to markets such as the United States with international quality. This challenge impacts the entire production chain, all the producers in the region with whom we have been working and want to continue advancing," he insisted.
Luciana Rave, VP of Albaugh Latam South and Director of Legal and Institutional Affairs of the company, celebrated "the opportunities for dialogue and joint work" and emphasized that "it is important to share our challenges and projects with the authorities."
That will be possible because the company will move to Río Tercero the process that until last year was carried out at its plant in the Buenos Aires city of San Nicolás, which was closed.
In Río Tercero, the company has been producing the 2-4D herbicide for decades, but now it will add the second final phase.
The meeting consisted of an institutional breakfast and a presentation by the company, which has already announced that it will integrate in Río Tercero the complete process of synthesis, formulation, packaging, and sale of the finished 2,4D herbicide product at its local plant.
"During the event, participants were able to learn firsthand about the production processes, recent investments, and initiatives that Atanor Albaugh is promoting in the region," the company stated.
The confirmation of investments in Atanor comes in a context, in Río Tercero, in which there has been an accelerated downsizing process at its neighbor Petroquímica Río Tercero, which closed its main production unit in this city in 2024 and in one year reduced its workforce from 375 to fewer than 130 employees.
