Attack on police station in Córdoba: residents assault the police for fulfilling their duty
In the Ciudad de Mis Sueños neighborhood, more than 20 people attacked a police station after the arrest of a young man with a stolen motorcycle
On Wednesday night, the Ciudad de Mis Sueños neighborhood in Córdoba was the scene of a serious episode of violence. After the arrest of a 22-year-old man who was riding a motorcycle that had been reported stolen, a group of more than 20 residents attacked Police Station 21B. They threw stones and blunt objects, causing damage to the building's facade and to patrol cars.
During the attack, an officer suffered a cut to the face and was taken to the Police Polyclinic. The Riot Police intervened using non-lethal weapons to disperse the strikers. The neighborhood's security cameras recorded the events, which are now under investigation by the Justice Department.
This act of violence against the police force, which was acting in the line of duty, is unacceptable. Assaulting those who are responsible for maintaining order and public safety can't be tolerated in a society that aspires to live in peace.

A worrying trend
This is not an isolated incident. In recent months, several similar attacks on police stations and officers have been reported in different neighborhoods of Córdoba. These acts of violence represent a direct threat to the rule of law and to civic coexistence.
The recurrence of these attacks demonstrates a worrying lack of respect for the institutions responsible for ensuring security. It is essential for the Justice Department to act firmly to punish those responsible and prevent future incidents.
Society must reflect on the consequences of justifying or minimizing these assaults. Protecting those who protect us is a shared responsibility that can't be ignored. Meanwhile, Passerini and the municipal government do not seem to be in much of a hurry to put an end to the city's insecurity.
