Axel Kicillof's government asked Kirchnerism to respect the Constitution

Bianco criticized the project presented by Unión por la Patria to annul the PASO and enable concurrent elections

The Minister of Government of the province of Buenos Aires, Carlos Bianco, confirmed this morning the determination of the governor Axel Kicillof to carry out the splitting of the elections in the district, a measure that caused a strong internal dispute with Cristina Kirchner, Máximo Kirchner, and La Cámpora, who oppose the proposal.

The official, a close collaborator of the governor, stated that the initiative presented by 16 senators from Unión por la Patria to annul the primaries and enable concurrent elections "is clearly unconstitutional".

In that sense, he recalled that the power to call the elections is an exclusive prerogative of the governor. To support this, he cited article 144 of the Buenos Aires Constitution and taunted the Kirchnerism: "It's very well to ask Milei to respect the Constitution, but it must also be respected in the province of Buenos Aires...".

During a press conference at the provincial Government House, Bianco explained that the internal debate within the ruling party about the electoral schedule was advancing in a "framework of unity", with consensus among the different sectors around the elimination of the PASO and the consolidation of a single list. However, he assured that everything was frustrated by a hostile gesture from the sector aligned with Kirchnerism.

The official detailed that there are three positions regarding the electoral calendar: Governor Axel Kicillof promotes the splitting before the national elections; the Frente Renovador proposed postponing it until after; meanwhile, the sector aligned with Máximo and Cristina Kirchner defends holding concurrent elections.

According to Bianco, the presentation of the project by the Kirchnerist senators was "untimely" and comparable to "the governor approving the budget by decree".

On the other hand, it is expected that this Thursday a session will be held in which an attempt will be made to reach a consensus for the elimination of the PASO. "There is almost unanimity. There are only two political forces that want to maintain the PASO: the left and Juan Grabois's, which are very minority. However, the suspension doesn't happen. So something strange happens that is not understood...", commented Bianco, despite the fact that last week they boycotted the session of La Libertad Avanza to discuss the project.
