While Boca is trying to find its footing in the Torneo Apertura and is preparing for its debut in the Copa Argentina, news arrived from Italy that rekindled the excitement:Paulo Dybala could be going through his final months at Roma and the club from La Ribera is holding formal talks to add him in the middle of the year.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, who specializes in the European market, "Dybala is closer to leaving than staying at Roma" and the contacts between the player's camp and Boca "are constant". Although there is still no final decision, the feeling is that the player from Córdoba is seriously considering a change of course when his contract ends in June.
El entorno de Dybala tendría contactos constantes con Boca
The interest is not new. In January, "La Joya" had ruled out an immediate departure, although he left the door open for the middle of the season. Now, with his deal in the home stretch and without an agreed renewal, the scenario seems more favorable. In fact, in Italy people claim that the Roma board intends to offer him an extension with a sharp pay cut, something that complicates the negotiations.
Dybala himself fueled the rumors a few weeks ago, after a match against Torino in which he scored and assisted: "I don't know how long I'll stay here in Italy, but this is a special place for me". The statement ignited speculation about the end of his spell in Serie A.
Meanwhile, a few weeks ago journalist Nicolò Schira stated that the efforts to renew are not progressing and that Roma could even accept a lower offer to avoid the player leaving on a free transfer in the European summer. That context would boost Boca's chances, which dreams of signing him as a star reinforcement for the second half of the year and, especially, for the Copa Libertadores.
Dybala podría quedar libre en junio
With Juan Román Riquelme paying close attention to every move and the regulatory possibility that the world champion could sign a pre-contract with another club, the club from La Ribera is slowly putting together a deal that, if it goes through, would shake up the Argentine market. For now there are no decisions, but the excitement is beginning to take shape.
Dybala's numbers at Roma
Since his arrival in mid-2022, the striker from Córdoba has played 8,593 minutes for La Loba, spread across 135 matches. During that span, he scored 45 goals, provided 26 assists, and did not win any titles.
