Boca made an offer for Gastón Hernández and is awaiting San Lorenzo's response

Boca hasn't withdrawn from the transfer market. President Juan Román Riquelme is looking to strengthen the defense and has set his sights on Gastón Hernández, one of the key players for San Lorenzo.

The club from La Ribera submitted an offer of 4 million dollars to purchase the 27-year-old defender's transfer rights, a proposal that is already in the hands of Ciclón's management, although there hasn't been an official response yet.

Hernández, who had already been linked to Xeneize last summer, spoke after the goalless draw against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and addressed the possible transfer: "No one has called me. I try to distance myself from everything. Today I'm not thinking about anything other than San Lorenzo. It would be disrespectful to think about anything else while wearing the captain's armband," he stated.

Initially, the coaching staff led by Miguel Ángel Russo wants him to compete as the first-choice center back. Boca urgently needs to strengthen that position, since Lautaro Di Lollo is the only available option after Nicolás Figal's injury in the opening match against Argentinos Juniors. This is compounded by the imminent departure of Cristian Lema, who will no longer be considered.

So far in his career, Hernández has played 95 matches wearing the blaugrana jersey and scored three goals. In 2023, a rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his right knee kept him off the field for several months. Now, he's once again on Boca's radar, and the ball is in San Lorenzo's court.

The transfer window will close this Thursday, July 25. However, there is an option for an additional period from the 26th of the same month until August 31 at 6:00 p.m. if the club sold or loaned players abroad.
