San Lorenzo's general secretary doesn't rule out bringing the elections forward
Amid Moretti's scandal over alleged bribes and the institutional crisis, pressure is mounting for a change within Ciclón
The political crisis at San Lorenzo added another tense chapter after the key meeting to discuss the future of Marcelo Moretti as president was postponed. In this context, Martín Cigna, the club's general secretary, surprised by leaving open the possibility of calling early elections, amid growing pressure from the members.
From the mixed zone at Nuevo Gasómetro, Cigna was clear: "We aren't ruling out early elections." However, he clarified that he doesn't believe it's "the best option," although he acknowledged that the issue will be discussed with all internal sectors in the coming days.

Beyond the political aspect, the official emphasized that the underlying problem at San Lorenzo isn't solved just by a change in leadership: "We have to focus on lawsuits, restrictions, bankruptcy petitions. Those are the real underlying issues we've been dragging along."
The situation worsened with the release of a video in which Marcelo Moretti allegedly appears receiving money for the transfer of a youth player, which provoked outrage among fans and strong rejection from the opposition.

Although the crisis has lasted more than three months, attempts to solve it remain stalled. Some sectors of the board of directors are seeking to remove Moretti, but AFA warned that any decision outside the statute could result in sanctions. Faced with that threat, the scheduled meeting was suspended with no new date.
The discontent quickly spread to the stands, with chants and protests during the last match against Gimnasia. Meanwhile, internal divisions, social discontent, and economic suffocation are creating an increasingly critical situation in Boedo, and the ballot box is emerging as an increasingly concrete solution, although still without a defined date.
