After Carlos Tevez's departure, the management of the Córdoba club finalized the arrival of the player from Santa Fe, who will sign until the end of 2027 and will take over immediately to lead the preseason
Talleres already has a successor for Carlos Tevez. After several days of negotiations and analysis of alternatives, the management led by Andrés Fassi reached an agreement with Jorge Sampaoli, who will become the new coach of the Córdoba team to face the second half of the season.
The search for a replacement accelerated after the elimination in the round of 16 of the 2026 Apertura Tournament and the subsequent departure of Tevez. In that process, Martín Anselmi emerged as one of the main candidates, and discussions progressed over several days. However, the negotiations did not reach a successful conclusion and Talleres decided to change direction.

It was then that the option of Sampaoli emerged strongly. Talks between the parties advanced quickly and led to an agreement for the Santa Fe native to take charge of the team with a 18-month contract, which will extend until December 2027.
The arrival of the former Argentine national team coach represents one of the most significant moves in the coaching market. Additionally, it marks his return to football in the country after more than two decades. His last experience in Argentina was in 2000, when he managed Argentino de Rosario before starting an extensive international career.
Since then, Sampaoli has built a career that included stints in the football of Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Spain, France, and Brazil. He also coached two national teams: Chile, with which he won the 2015 Copa América, and Argentina, which he led in the disastrous 2018 World Cup in Russia.
His last job was at Atlético Mineiro, where although he reached the final of the 2025 Copa Sudamericana, which he lost to Lanús on penalties, he had a very inconsistent tenure. He will now face the challenge of leading a new sports project in Córdoba to try to reposition the T in the fight for qualification spots for international cups and make the team a contender during the Clausura Tournament.
Sampaoli has not managed since February, when he left Atlético Mineiro
The club's intention is for Sampaoli to join the team's training immediately. With the return to training scheduled for the coming days, the coach will begin to assess the group and work alongside the management in planning the transfer market.

In his second stint as coach of the Belo Horizonte team, the native of Casilda spent just over 5 months (from September 2025 to February 2026), where he managed 33 matches, with a record of 10 wins, 14 draws, and 9 losses, and a tally of 47 goals scored and 42 against.
