The Borderlands 4 version for Switch 2 will arrive on October 3, a few weeks after its release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, which will be on September 12.
The news was confirmed by Randy Pitchford, Gearbox co-founder, in a video posted on social media where he explained the reasons for the delay.

Pitchford clarified that the game was planned to be released before the end of 2025, but they hadn't given the date because "they wanted to be sure."
Many fans thought it would be delayed until 2026, but they finally confirmed that it will be available just a few weeks after the rest of the platforms.

The game will come in Game-Key format, as was already expected for a large-sized title. Even with the physical copy, it will be necessary to download additional content. "It's a big game," Pitchford explained.

One of the topics that most concerned fans was performance. Pitchford replied honestly: the Switch 2 version will run at 30 FPS, with some occasional drops.
"We prefer to keep the graphics uncut and allow crossplay with other platforms," he explained. The performance drops will be seen mainly in handheld mode.
