A brutal accident leaves one dead in a motorcycle race in Santiago del Estero

A serious accident occurred this Sunday during a motorcycle race in the town ofColonia Dora in Santiago del Estero and unfortunately ended with the death of Lucas Surivat, a 26-year-old rider from the city of Perico, Jujuy.

The competition was taking place at the oval of Club Mitre, located alongside National Route No. 34, and had drawn a large number of spectators and competitors. However, what began as a sporting event ended in a tragedy.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred when one of the participants lost control of his motorcycle on a curve. That maneuver triggered a chain collision involving at least five riders. Several of them sustained injuries of varying severity, but Surivat was the one who suffered the most serious impact.

All injured riders were treated at Colonia Dora Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, the young man from Jujuy was urgently transferred to Hospital Zonal de Añatuya, where his death was ultimately confirmed.

The prosecutor's office on duty and police officers are working to determine how the accident occurred and whether there were failures in safety measures or individual responsibilities that may have contributed to the fatal outcome.

The news caused deep shock in the community of Perico, where the rider was from. Through an official statement, the Municipality expressed its sorrow and support for the family: "His passing leaves a great void, but also the memory of his enthusiasm and love for what he did," local authorities stated, who also highlighted his commitment to motorsports.

The loss of Lucas Surivat once again brings attention to safety in regional motorcycle competitions and the challenge of ensuring proper conditions for riders and spectators.
