Valentín Perrone experienced the best Sunday of his short Moto3 career. In a movie-like finale at the Hungarian Grand Prix, the 17-year-old born in Barcelona but competing under the Argentine flag crossed the finish line in second place, just 0.018 seconds behind the winner, Spanish rider Máximo Quiles, in one of the closest finishes of the season.
The podium was completed by David Muñoz, while Ángel Piqueras and José Antonio Rueda finished fourth and fifth, respectively. This result allowed Piqueras to close the gap in the championship against Rueda, who remains at the top of the standings.
Perrone, who had qualified second, remained in the leading group at all times and even led the race in several sections. However, on the final lap, Quiles took advantage of a slight mistake by the Argentine in the last corner to regain the lead and secure the victory by a minimal margin.
