The Government of CABA confirmed the security operation for the South American classic
The Buenos Aires Ministry of Security created a plan to ensure order at tonight's match between Argentina and Brazil
After almost a decade, the Argentine National Team will host the Verdeamarelha at the "Más" Monumental Stadium. This match will be crucial for the Scaloneta, which seeks to confirm its presence in the next World Cup, and will feature a rigorous security operation.
For this event, the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security has organized a large deployment that will include 1000 police officers, as well as traffic agents, prevention officers, inspectors from the Government Control Agency (AGC) and Public Space, and police cadets.

The stadium doors will open at 5 PM, and the "Tribuna Segura" program will be implemented to control the entry of fans and barras with admission rights. Additionally, those registered as delinquent child support debtors will not be allowed to enter the Monumental, in a measure jointly promoted by the City’s Ministries of Justice and Security.
Those attending the match will go through three control rings, where tickets will be verified with a QR code reader and a double frisking will be conducted. Meanwhile, the visiting fans must enter through Padre Neuman Street to access the upper Centenario stand.
Authorities recommend arriving early, as traffic cuts in the area will begin at noon and will cover the perimeter defined by the avenues Udaondo, Del Libertador, Figueroa Alcorta, and Monroe. In line with previous sporting and massive events, controls around the stadium will be reinforced to prevent the presence of "trapitos" or car watchers.

What does Argentina need to qualify for the 2026 World Cup?
The victory against Uruguay in Montevideo left the Albiceleste with one foot in the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. With five matches remaining and 15 points at stake, Lionel Scaloni's team leads with a six-point advantage over Ecuador (22) and maintains a 15-point distance from Bolivia, which occupies the seventh place, corresponding to the play-offs. In this context, Argentina needs not to lose against Brazil to mathematically secure its qualification for the World Cup in North America.
The classic also marks the return of the South American duel to the Argentine capital after almost ten years. The last match in Buenos Aires ended in a 1-1 draw in November 2015, during the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Since then, the only time both teams faced each other in Argentina was in November 2021, in San Juan, which ended 0-0.

Despite the good mood after the victory in Montevideo, the Albiceleste will not have Lionel Messi or Lautaro Martínez in the attack, their top scorer in 2024. Both were left out of Scaloni's call due to muscle discomfort, adding to other absences such as Lisandro Martínez, Manchester United defender, and Giovani Lo Celso.
