The Municipality of La Calera signed an agreement with the company Ola Park to build a water park in the Laguna Azul area. The project involves an investment of approximately $400 million and is currently under development, with plans to open during the 2025/2026 season. According to the announcement, the initiative aims to create direct jobs and revitalize the local economy through tourism.
Mayor Fernando Rambaldi presented the project as a strategic move to transform the city into a regional attraction hub. "We cleaned up the area; it was an open-air dump. We want to restore Laguna Azul as a family tourist destination," he said, highlighting the potential of the venture. The expectation is that the arrival of visitors will also boost the city's hotels, restaurants, and businesses.
Meanwhile, Fernando Moyano, representative of Ola Park, emphasized that the results of similar experiences demonstrate the positive impact on local development. "The previous season showed how a park can boost the town's economy; welcoming families and young people benefits businesses, cabins, and the food industry," he stated. He also assured that there will be areas with public access and that the project will be developed with respect for the environment.
