Capcom puts 'Resident Evil 5 Remake' on hold and focuses on other classics
An insider revealed that Capcom is not working on a Resident Evil 5 Remake and confirmed that Code Veronica is moving forward first
Capcom continues to strongly support remakes of its most successful franchise. After the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake in 2023, many fans speculated that Resident Evil 5 would be next.
However, a well-known insider stated that the project is not underway for now. Instead, the Japanese company reportedly has other immediate plans for the franchise.

What did the insider say about Resident Evil 5?
The well-known leaker Dusk Golem, who previously revealed information about Resident Evil Requiem, confirmed on X (Twitter) that "there's no Resident Evil 5 remake right now."
Although he doesn't rule out that it could happen later, he emphasized that the current focus is on other titles. According to his statements, Capcom would listen to the community if demand for RE5 grows in the future.
The projects that are indeed on the way
According to Dusk Golem, the next remakes in the franchise are Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0. The development of Code Veronica is reportedly progressing even better than expected.

This game, which marked the return of Claire Redfield and was released in 2000 for Dreamcast, maintained the classic essence of survival horror. Everything indicates that it will return before Resident Evil 0.
Why not a RE5 remake yet?
One of the reasons is that Resident Evil 5 doesn't urgently require a technical update. In addition, there are already remastered versions on current consoles that keep it relevant.

Capcom could wait a few more years to decide whether it is worth releasing it. For now, the priority seems to be on titles that have never received a new version.
