The governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, is awaiting the arrival this Thursday of the National Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the Chief of Cabinet, Diego Santilli, who will arrive in the province to advance a strategic works agenda for Catamarca and Santiago del Estero.

Jalil is leading the official delegation at the Felipe Varela Airport to welcome the national officials. Also participating are the Minister of Government of Catamarca, Alberto Natella, and the mayor of Belén, Cristian Yapura. The governor of Santiago del Estero, Elías Suárez, is already on site, having arrived minutes earlier to participate in the institutional day.

The main objective of the visit is the signing of the agreement to launch the Albigasta Aqueduct, one of the most important water infrastructure projects planned for the region.

A water project of $100 billion

The project involves an investment of around $100 billion, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and will allow for the construction of approximately 50 kilometers of aqueduct along with two water treatment plants.

The infrastructure will benefit more than 35,000 residents and will have a direct impact on both eastern Catamarca and western Santiago del Estero.

In addition to ensuring access to water for the affected populations, the project aims to strengthen the conditions for regional productive development, particularly for producers in both provinces.

The agreement represents an important step forward for infrastructure that has been deemed a priority for years to address the water needs of an area with strong productive potential.

Caputo and Santilli will also advance road works

The agenda for the national officials will not be limited to the Albigasta Aqueduct. During the day, the signing of agreements related to the financing and execution of works on national routes 157 and 38 is also planned.

Both routes are strategic for the connectivity of Catamarca and Santiago del Estero and play a central role in the transportation of production, goods, and people.

The agreements will allow for progress on projects considered a priority by provincial authorities to improve road infrastructure and support the growth of economic activity in the region.

A joint agenda between the Nation and the provinces

After receiving Caputo and Santilli in the VIP room of the Felipe Varela Airport, the officials will move with Jalil and Suárez to the Cata building, located in front of Plaza 25 de Mayo and the Government House.

There, the official signing of the agreements will take place, followed by a press conference with local media.

The simultaneous presence of national government officials and provincial leaders reflects the intention to coordinate a common infrastructure agenda, with special attention to projects that can improve water availability, connectivity, and conditions for production.

For Catamarca, the Albigasta Aqueduct also represents a project of significant regional impact, linking the infrastructure needs of two provinces and benefiting both communities and the productive sector.
