February 2026 will bring one of the most anticipated breaks of the year. The long Carnival weekend will offer four consecutive days that are ideal for traveling or slowing down.
According to the official holiday calendar published by the national government, the break will extend from Saturday 14 to Tuesday 17 February.

Which days Carnival 2026 falls on
The Carnival holidays are set for Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 February. Both are national holidays.
By adding the previous weekend, it becomes a four-day XXL long weekend, the first of this kind in the 2026 calendar.

Holiday or non-working day: what the difference is
The distinction is key for workers and employers. The holiday is mandatory and is paid double if it is worked.
The non-working day is left to the employer's discretion and doesn't entail extra pay.
