The Government of Javier Milei decided to centralize all functions related to the security of the Presidential Residence of Olivos and the temporary residences used by the President of the Nation and his family in the Military House.

The measure involves a comprehensive transfer of responsibilities and assets from the Presidential Quinta of Olivos to the Military House, a process that, according to the Government, must be completed within a maximum period of 60 days.

The official objective is to raise security and efficiency standards while simultaneously simplifying internal administrative processes.

According to the official statement, the decision is made in a context marked by "the escalation of insecurity at a global level" and in anticipation of the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to Argentina, which will involve significant movement of external personnel to carry out works and provide the necessary services to prepare the spaces designated for the official visit.

With the new organization, the Military House will assume the integral responsibility for the security of Olivos and also for the temporary residences of the President and his family. This measure is part of the powers assigned to that agency and what is established by the National Defense Law.

The Military House will have an integral role

The scheme established by the Government also contemplates that the Military House will be responsible for providing security at the Casa Rosada and at all locations where the President is, both within Argentine territory and during his activities abroad.

In this way, presidential security will be concentrated under a single structure, with the aim of unifying responsibilities and strengthening the protection mechanisms for the head of State and his environment.

The reorganization will also have consequences for the internal functioning of the Quinta de Olivos. The Government has ordered the dissolution of the General Administration of the Presidential Residence of Olivos, while establishing a separation between security, administration, and control tasks.

As explained by the libertarian administration, this modification will allow "to reduce the formal structure and the number of personnel that remain there".

The change thus aims to modify the scheme under which the presidential residence currently operates and to concentrate under the Military House the security tasks involving the President.
