Changuito Zeballos could leave Boca: Sevilla and two former Xeneize coaches want him

The forward has lost his place in Russo's plans and his future could be far from the La Ribera club

After its participation in the Club World Cup,  Boca has already returned to training to prepare for the second half of the year. Although the transfer market priority is to add reinforcements, possible departures are also being considered, and one of the names that has resonated the most is Exequiel Zeballos.

The 23-year-old has lost ground since Miguel Ángel Russo arrived on the bench and his performance has not met expectations, so the club could open the door for his exit.

In this scenario, Sevilla from Spain was one of the first interested parties, but in recent hours two former Xeneizes coaches have also shown interest: Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who is looking to strengthen his Vélez Sarsfield, and Fernando Gago, who wants to take him to Necaxa in Mexico.

Zeballos has a contract until December 2026 and, according to Transfermarkt, is valued at more than 4 million dollars, an amount that interested parties would have to pay if they want to sign the player from Santiago del Estero. In terms of numbers, since his debut in 2020, he has played 114 matches, in which he has scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists. He has also won 5 domestic titles.

The other players Russo would not consider

Amid the post-Club World Cup transition, Miguel Ángel Russo has already started to rule out names. According to Diego Monroig, an ESPN journalist specializing in Boca, the players who would not be in the coach's plans are: Marcos Rojo (with an imminent departure due to contract termination), Sergio Chiquito Romero (almost no playing time due to injuries and overshadowed by Marchesín), Frank Fabra (few minutes recently), and Saracchi (poor performance).
