Franco Colapinto finished the Singapore Grand Prix with a mix of anger and resignation. The Argentine driver, who started on soft tires seeking a risky strategy, was unable to find performance and finished 16th, far from the points zone.
"A very frustrating race. I put in a lot of effort, but nothing worked out and we're going very slowly. At times, the car is unmanageable," he told the press after the race.
The Alpine driver explained that the team tried a different tactic, but the early tire wear left him with no options. "I don't really understand why we're so slow, so much slower than others. A bad, very slow race with a lot of degradation," he summarized with self-criticism.
The Argentine driver will try to recover ground in the next Grand Prix, in Austin, one of the circuits where he showed the best performance last season: "Last year I showed more and I could make good starts like today,
but then I couldn't hold off other cars like Red Bull."
