A few days before the start of winter break, next Friday, the polar cold wave in Córdoba surprised and forced the authorities to take extreme measures.
For this reason, the Provincial Ministry of Education decreed that absences would not be counted on Monday and Tuesday in the initial, primary, and secondary levels of Córdoba's schools.

However, starting this Wednesday, when temperatures are expected to become somewhat milder, attendance in class is mandatory and absences will be counted.
The ministry announced it through a statement.
A teachers' union requested the suspension of classes due to the cold
This concerns the Capital delegation of the Unión de Educadores de la Provincia de Córdoba (UEPC), which suggested halting classes because, it argued, the infrastructure is not prepared for such low temperatures.
The building problem is real, but so is the lack of commitment to the school calendar, which is often seen more as a bargaining excuse than as an educational priority.

Franco Boczkowski, the union's secretary general, said that "in this situation of an extreme cold wave, we consider it unreasonable to require schools to remain open without the necessary conditions."
The diagnosis points to institutions without heating or infrastructure, but the proposed solution is once again to close classrooms.
UEPC repeats the same script as always: when faced with a problem, activity is halted instead of seeking ways to sustain it.
