Incredible: due to the polar wave, a waterfall froze in Córdoba
This is El Salto del Tigre, which is located on the provincial border with San Luis
The polar wave that is affecting the entire country and that has been breaking records in Córdoba offered a wonderful spectacle in the mountains, where El Salto del Tigre waterfall froze.
As a result of temperatures that dropped to nearly -10 °C (14 °F) in the surrounding areas, a large part of its 22-meter (72-foot) high waterfall and its 30-meter (98-foot) diameter pool were reduced to blocks of ice.

Additionally, the southeast orientation and the fact that the water surface receives little sunlight must be considered.
Trekking guide Germán Romero and his friend Gastón Darrigrán took advantage of the phenomenon to go rappelling at the site.
How to access El Salto del Tigre
To reach El Salto del Tigre, trekking enthusiasts usually depart from Villa de Merlo, San Luis, traveling a mostly paved route of 25 kilometers (16 miles) to the "El Tono" post.

From there, a trek of approximately 45 minutes is undertaken along trails in the Sierras de los Comechingones.
The route, of medium difficulty, passes through high-altitude vegetation landscapes, with medicinal herbs and panoramic views.
Recommendations for visiting El Salto del Tigre
It is recommended to wear warm clothing, appropriate footwear, and hire professional guides, since the trails can be confusing and weather conditions vary.

This is not the first time this natural wonder has frozen: the same thing happened in the winter of 2024.
