The altercation is said to have originated in the San Rudecindo de Bosques neighborhood, at the intersection of Laguna del Iberá and El Chocón, when a man in a drunken state began causing disturbances, insulting the neighbors.
Frightened, they called 911, so agents from the Fourth Police Station went to the scene to intervene. It was in that context that the woman was shot.
After being hit by the projectile, the victim fell to the ground injured and was rushed to Mi Pueblo Hospital, where she had to undergo surgery. She was then placed in intermediate care, with a guarded prognosis.
The police officer's actions came under investigation due to the different versions circulating about what happened. While some witnesses claim he shot at close range intentionally, he maintains that the woman tried to snatch his weapon and that the shot was fired accidentally during a struggle, hitting her chest.
He is currently still detained and faces charges of "aggravated attempted homicide for the use of a firearm and for being a member of the police force in an attempted degree".
