Palito Ortega is one of the most beloved figures in Argentine popular music. At 83 years old, the singer is touring the country with a tour celebrating his 55-year career, filling theaters and receiving standing ovations at every performance.
However, in recent hours, a health issue has raised concerns among his fans: he had to suspend his show in Paraná and temporarily pause his tour.
The news was confirmed by his daughter Julieta Ortega, who publicly revealed the condition the musician is experiencing. "Nothing serious, but he has to recover and can't do shows this week or next week, unfortunately", she explained in statements released by Diario Crónica.

Julieta detailed that her father was diagnosed with herpes zoster, a condition that affects the skin and nerves, and in this case appeared in the facial area. Although the illness is not serious, it does require care and rest to avoid complications.
The cancellation took fans by surprise, since Palito had just sold out two shows at the Teatro Ópera in Buenos Aires, as part of the celebration for the 55th anniversary of his hit "Muchacho que vas cantando."
The show that was to take place in Paraná was suspended and rescheduled for November. The artist himself took it upon himself to share the news with a message on his social media: he apologized to his fans in Entre Ríos and promised to reunite with them as soon as his health allows.
"Thank you for your constant affection. I'll see you very soon, stronger than ever", he wrote on his Instagram account, generating a wave of supportive messages from his followers.
What is herpes zoster and how does it affect people?
Herpes zoster, also known as "shingles," is a painful skin rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus, which remains dormant in the body. It usually appears with burning, tingling, redness, and pain, and is more common in older people or those with weakened immune systems.
In many cases, rest and antiviral treatment are enough to control symptoms and prevent complications. For this reason, doctors advised Ortega to suspend his performances until he has fully recovered.
