TheGovernment  has made official the entry of more than 22,000 electrified cars without tariffs, thus completing the annual quota of 50,000 units with benefits for 2025.

The vehicles must meet certain requirements and will be sold with tax reductions. Many brands have already joined this measure.

Which cars enter the country without paying the 35% tariff

This Monday, the new list of vehicles that will not pay the customs tariff to enter Argentina was published in the Official Gazette.

This is the second batch of allocations, with 22,998 new units, which are added to the 31,142 already approved in the first stage.

How the electrified car quota works

With these two tenders, the total assigned for 2025 amounts to 50,000 vehicles.

The initiative is part of a five-year plan that contemplates the importation of 300,000 hybrid and electric units under special conditions.

Which models can enter with benefits?

To access the benefit, the models must meet these conditions:

  • Be hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric, or mild-hybrid.
  • Have a FOB value of less than 16,000 dollars.
  • Be nationalized before February 2026.

Some vehicles from the first batch were discarded for not meeting these conditions, which explains why the total sum exceeds 50,000 units.

Which domestic brands were authorized

Among the automakers that manufacture in the country, several models have already been approved:

  • Renault: Arkana (mild-hybrid) and Kwid E-Tech (100% electric).
  • Ford: Territory hybrid, recently renewed.
  • Chevrolet: Spark and Captiva plug-in hybrid.

Together, they add up to just over 6,000 units.

  • Haval: H6 and Jolion
  • Chery: Arrizo 8, Tiggo 4 HEV, and Tiggo 8 HEV
  • BYD: Dolphin, Dolphin Mini (GS and GL), Song Pro (GS and GL), Yuan Pro (GS, GL, DMI GS, and DMI GL)
  • Mini: Countryman
  • BMW: X1

BYD, Suzuki, and Mini: the brands making a strong impact

BYD leads the list with the highest number of requested models. Meanwhile, the strong return of Suzuki with the classic Swift and the arrival of Mini with special prices also stand out.
