Córdoba adds more direct flights to Rio de Janeiro starting in October

A low-cost airline will offer four weekly flights between Taravella Airport and the Brazilian city

Córdoba strengthens its position as a regional air hub. Starting October 3, JetSMART will operate direct flights from Córdoba to Rio de Janeiro, one of the most popular destinations among Argentinians last summer.

The route will have four weekly frequencies, and it joins those already operated by three other companies: GOL, FlyBondi, and Aerolíneas Argentinas. With this new connection, there are now four airlines covering the Córdoba-Brazil corridor. This will create a scenario of greater competition and better prices for travelers from Córdoba.

JetSMART, meanwhile, emphasized that this new route reinforces its expansion plan in the country, and stated that they aim to "bring more and more regional destinations from Córdoba, with affordable fares."

Argentina as a regional attraction for operations

In conversation with local media, JetSMART's General Manager stated that this is possible thanks to the deregulation process promoted by the Milei government. Pérez Corral stated that the context of stability and predictability positions Argentina as one of the most attractive destinations for the development of their operations.

Added to this is a growing demand in the air transport market. Many Argentinians choose to vacation abroad thanks to exchange rate stability, which allows them to save and plan with greater predictability.

In this process of opening and modernization of transportation, the work of former Secretary of Transportation, Franco Mogetta, was also key. During his administration, he promoted measures that facilitated federal connectivity and worked actively to position Córdoba as a strategic node on the regional air map.

Open skies

This scenario of growth in the air transport sector is not accidental. It is part of the new "open skies" approach promoted by the national government. This facilitates the entry of airlines into the country without the obstacles or excessive regulations that historically benefited a few and harmed millions.

Thanks to this policy, passengers now have more options, better prices, and greater direct connectivity from the interior of the country, without needing to go through Buenos Aires. Córdoba is thus consolidating itself as a key hub in national and international air connectivity.
