Córdoba's challenge at the Maize Congress: adding value to what it produces
The Minister of Bioagroindustry of the province participated in the event that took place this week in Rosario
Córdoba, the province that leads investment and corn production in the country, faces the challenge of adding value to the grain.
This was stated by the Minister of Bioagroindustry, Sergio Busso, who participated in the opening of the 4th edition of the International Corn Congress in Rosario.
Busso, who shared a panel with the Minister of Productive Development of Santa Fe, Gustavo Puccini, and the Minister of Economic Development of Entre Ríos, Guillermo Bernaudo, highlighted the strategic approach that Córdoba has taken regarding the transformation of corn as a driver of regional and productive development.
Producing corn-based bioethanol in Córdoba
"Córdoba's production model has a strategic decision, which is to transform corn into bioethanol. This is our big bet: today there are three plants in the province that are an example," he said.

In this regard, he emphasized the impact that an update to the current national regulations would have.
"If this equation in the Biofuels Law were changed and the blend were raised at least to competitive levels with countries like Paraguay or Brazil, which have a 30-point blend, that would mean, for every point increased, a new Bio4 and 200 jobs," he said.
"If we multiply that by 15, it would be 3,000 direct jobs in Córdoba, with all the environmental benefits that entails," he added.
Adding value to corn
He insisted: "The challenge is to transform what we produce. In Córdoba, we transform 20% of the corn we produce, and that's what we fight for."

He also highlighted the role of the Central Region as the engine of national production.
"50% of the corn produced in Argentina is produced by the Central Region. I have no doubt that, with the productive perspective of the interior, we can move toward a more balanced and federal model," he said.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Livestock, Marcelo Calle, moderated the panel "The King of Animal Feed," where the role of corn as the basis of livestock production and the opportunities to add value at the source were highlighted.
Corn Congress in Rosario
The Congress is consolidating itself year after year as a key space for the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of the agribusiness sector, with the participation of prominent national and international representatives.
Córdoba's presence at the event reflects the province's commitment to sustainable productive development and public-private collaboration to boost the bioeconomy.
