Dealership shut down due to scams in Córdoba: 250 employees at call center

More than 30 victims reported Alpha Motors in the city center for demanding millions without delivering the cars

Consumer Defense staff shut down a car dealership in Córdoba after multiple reports of fraud. The operation was carried out at Alpha Motors, located at Rivera Indarte 200, right in the city center. There, 250 employees worked and a huge call center also operated.

The investigation began due to more than 30 complaints from victims who handed over million-peso (2,205 pounds) advances for vehicles they never received. The amounts ranged from one million (2,205 pounds) to seven million pesos (15,432 pounds), under the promise of immediate delivery. However, the deadlines were never met and the fraud was exposed.

The testimonies point to a modus operandi that included showing cars in a nearby parking lot without allowing test drives. The salespeople limited the display to the exterior bodywork, without granting access to the interior or starting the engine. The maneuver raised suspicions that were later confirmed by the courts.

Victims' testimonies reveal the scheme

Raúl Brizuela, one of the affected individuals, reported that he handed over more than three million (6,614 pounds) with the promise of receiving a car in two weeks. Despite paying additional installments, he never received the agreed vehicle. His case is repeated with other buyers whose expectations were frustrated.

The victims agreed that they were even offered identical models, which revealed the pattern of fraud. The lack of paperwork, constant delays, and evasive responses increased suspicions. The pressure from those affected was key for the closure to be carried out.

Another serious aspect is that Alpha Motors offered vehicles that belonged to other agencies. The manager of a dealership revealed that customers arrived deceived, believing they were buying cars that were not for sale there. The case exposes failures in the city's commercial controls.

Impact in Córdoba and demand for stricter controls

The closure of Alpha Motors raises concern due to the magnitude of the fraud and the number of employees involved. The existence of a call center with 250 positions reinforces the scale of the scheme. For the victims, the financial blow was devastating.

Consumer Defense announced that it will continue investigations to determine criminal and commercial responsibilities. The case opens a debate about the lack of oversight in the automotive sector. Non-transparent dealerships find room to defraud buyers.
