The Córdoba-based company Descar Argentina was recognized with the 2024 National Quality Award for SMEs. The founder, Lucas De Cecco, received the distinction a few days ago at a ceremony in Buenos Aires. The firm became the first SME in the country to achieve this official distinction.

The award is presented annually by the Ministry of Economy of the Nation. The company was selected after completing a certification process that began last year. The organizers confirmed that no SME had ever achieved this recognition before.

Descar specializes in applying advanced technologies to industrial processes. In addition to automation, it incorporates digital tools such as virtual twins. It also develops software and trains technical personnel in new technologies.

Innovation, expansion, and a technology school

The company has three business units that have been growing steadily for years. One of them is dedicated to developing proprietary software and software for industrial clients. Another focuses on training in production technologies and digitalization.

"We are implementing personalized training for companies," De Cecco explained. The training includes topics such as software, engineering, and operational efficiency. The project began during the pandemic and was formalized this year as its own area.

The objective is to address the shortage of technical talent in the productive sector. "There is a great need to achieve operational efficiency," the founder added. The proposal includes training programs tailored to the needs of each industry.

Industry 4.0 and new technological challenges

Descar works with automotive, aerospace, and agricultural companies. Its clients include Metalfor, Agrometal, and companies from the U.S. It also provides solutions to manufacturers of supplies for oil and gas.

De Cecco explained that "this year there is strong demand for technologies that allow companies to be more competitive." The new context forces industries to become more efficient in the face of imported products. They are also seeking to expand markets abroad.

Regarding artificial intelligence, the entrepreneur was cautious. "It is still not well understood how to apply it," he admitted. "The big leap will happen soon," he anticipated regarding the potential of this technology in industrial processes.
